Intro To Power Pro Spectra
Basic fishing techniques such as open topwater casting or fly lining bait don’t require a special type of braided fishing line. You may have depth issues that call for the Power Pro Downrigger or Depth Hunter. Perhaps you cast iron exclusively on every trip you fish. The Power Pro Super 8 Slick might be a better choice.
No need to go overboard in features or cost when a strong, basic braided line is all you need. Power Pro Spectra may represent the base of their featured braids, but its enhanced body technology makes it far from basic. Results of this technology is a smoother line for better casting with higher abrasion resistance. It also comes with more body, a desirable trait when it comes to tying knots.

Features Of Power Pro Spectra
EBT – Enhanced Body Technology
Enhanced Body Technology, or EBT, is the namesake of Power Pro Spectra line. It involves a system of resin treatment. EBT isn’t a coating, but rather a process that permeates the entire woven line. The EBT process adds body which in turn makes it rounder and smoother than other braided lines. These qualities are helpful while fishing in different ways.
Abrasion Resistance – EBT adds extra resistance to abrasion. Line flows smoothly on the reel and through rod eyelets, reducing natural abrasion that occurs over time.
Ease Of Handling – Because the EBT process gives body to the line, it makes it easier to deal with. Tying knots and threading hooks becomes a much simpler task when your line doesn’t fall all over the place.
Better Casting – It follows that a smoother, rounder line is able to flow more fluidly through the rod’s eyes. That same slick abrasion resistant quality helps add a few more yards to your cast.
Sensitive Low Stretch Line
Like the majority of braided lines on the market, Power Pro Spectra has almost no stretch. The result is an extremely sensitive connection from hook to reel. An ability to feel almost any size strike is a benefit to anglers using Power Pro Spectra.

Pros & Cons Of Power Pro Spectra Braided Line
Pros
When it comes to a base product in a series of different choices, Power Pro goes above what most manufacturers offer. This is apparent in the Enhanced Body Technology that goes into every inch of every spool. Many base products in the realm of braided fishing don’t offer the advantages that Power Pro Spectra provides. Besides being smooth and extra resistant to abrasion, Power Pro Spectra has almost no stretch.
Cons
Though Power Pro Spectra offers some additional benefits with its EBT feature, it doesn’t come for free. Other brands offer a decent line that better fits many angler’s budgets. Power Pro does have a small number of reports claiming the line unravels when it frays. There are also reports of line snapping, though most of these are on the fault of the angler.
Power Pro, like any braided fishing line, will break under sudden stress. This usually happens with a tight drag at first strike. It also occurs when anglers set the hook too quick and too hard. Using braided line comes with a learning curve, and anglers often lose fish when they overreact. Also, be aware that any color will wear off over time due to the properties of the fiber.
Best Use Of Power Pro Spectra
Being the standard line of all the Power Pro braids, Spectra is multi-purpose. It’s an effective line in any number of different fishing scenarios. From fly lining to trolling, deep rock pile fishing or ripping a jig, Spectra will work for it all. Be sure to check the other styles of braid by Power Pro for more extreme fishing applications.
Power Pro Customer Support
Though they don’t offer an outright warranty, Power Pro will consider applications for products not purchased through a 3rd party seller. Their website provides a phone number, address, and downloadable forms to make the request. Also available on their site is a Contact Us Page. There, anglers can send an online message directly to Shimano headquarters.
Final Thoughts
91 out of 100 anglers approve of Power Pro Spectra
When it comes to standard braided fishing lines, Power Pro Spectra is among the industry leaders. It is, in fact, well above the standard product. Though you do pay extra for the EBT treatment, it adds a value that’s worth the cost. That abrasion resistant quality means the line will last longer, another measure of good value. For beginners to experts alike, Power Pro Spectra makes a fine choice on any reel.
